In association with UK Sires we can collect semen from your bull and have it processed into straws for artificial insemination (AI). This acts as an insurance policy in case your bull is injured or dies unexpectedly his genetics are preserved. This semen can be used for AI on your own farm or can provide an additional source of income, as these straws can be sold within the UK.
You must apply for a licence to APHA and the bull must be TB tested and blood tested before collection takes place. Usually a couple of cows are synchronised as teasers and the semen is collected into an artificial vagina. The semen is then assessed for quality and extended before being couriered to UK Sires for freezing.
