Veterinary surgeons

Joe is originally from the Wirral. Joe graduated Liverpool in 2023. Prior to joining Dyfed this year Joe worked in a Northern Irish farm practice. Clinically interested in lameness and beef work. In his free time Joe enjoys woodwork and fishing.

Helen qualified from the Royal Vet College, London in 2008 and after a year in large animal practice in Aberdeen, came south to join us in July 2009. Dairy fertility, beef herd fertility and management, and Alpacas are included in her interests. She completed her RVCS Certificate in Cattle Health and production in 2015 and is an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Cattle Health and production.

In her spare time, she helps run her partner's dairy farm, produces butter for their onsite Dairy Vending shop and is undertaking a Masters in Ruminant Nutrition.

David joined Market Hall Vets in St Clears in 2005 and his main passion has always been farm animal work. He soon developed a special interest in dairy fertility and mastitis related issues. In 2008, David became a partner at Market Hall Vets and it felt like a natural progression to join CVS and the formation of Dyfed Farm Vets in 2021.

David aspires to help Welsh farmers be efficient and sustainable with an emphasis on biodiversity, animal welfare and farm profitability

Anna graduated from the University of Liverpool in the summer of 2023 and joined the Dyfed team soon after. Her family farm locally in Llanelli with a herd of beef cattle. Anna is keen on all things cattle, enjoying both beef and dairy work.

Outside of work you can find Anna walking her dog, horse riding and playing team sports!

Becky has joined Dyfed Farm Vets as a veterinary surgeon. Originally form Hertfordshire she has spent the last 3.5 years working locally in a mixed practice. Becky enjoys all aspects of farm practice but has a particular interest in working with beef cattle. In her spare time she enjoys socialising with friends and exploring Wales with her Jack Russel Millie.

Carlos graduated in 2015, and moved to the UK for 6months, over 7 years later he’s still here and enjoying it as much as ever. He enjoys all aspects of farm vetting, and has a particular interest in Large animal surgery. He has locumed at Dyfed several times, but has now decided that it’s time to settle and live in the area permanently.

His hobbies include exploring wild Wales, animal and bird watching and spending time with his family.

Charles qualified from the RVC in 2024 and joined us as a new graduate. He enjoys all aspects of farm animal medicine, with a particular interest in fertility and young stock management. Outside of work he enjoys spending his spare time hiking and climbing

Harriet qualified from the Royal Vet College in 2015 and worked as a farm vet locally for several years before heading out to live and work in New Zealand. After spending the summer locuming at home in Devon she returned to Wales in the autumn. Harriet enjoys all aspects of farm animal work but is particularly keen on young stock management and infectious disease control.

Outside of work she is a keen baker, very amateur gardener and huge rugby fan.

Jose qualified from Porto University in 2018. Jose was brought up on a sheep farm in the Portuguese countryside. He enjoys all aspects of being a farm animal veterinarian, with a particular interest in fertility and nutrition.

Outside of work he likes to spend his spare time doing outdoor activities such as cycling, running or hiking.

Kate graduated from the Royal Dick Vet College, Edinburgh in 2003 and came to work for Phillip Williams at Fairlane shortly afterwards. Her particular interests lie in dairy and beef fertility, and infectious disease, with the aim to help clients achieve good health and production in their herds.

She also undertakes bull and ram fertility examinations. Kate runs our medicines training courses and is the AVC prescribing champion. She completed her Diploma in Bovine Reproduction in 2014 and is an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Bovine Reproduction.

In her free time, Kate has a “second job” working with her partner Roger on their dairy farm.

Lauren joined us after graduating from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in July 2021. She is from the Highlands of Scotland and spent all of her spare time on farms - particularly during lambing and shearing seasons.

Outside of work she is keen on hiking, an avid rugby watcher and is looking to join a Young Farmers club.

Niamh qualified from the RVC in 2022 and joined Dyfed Vets as a new graduate. Before university she took a year out working on a sheep farm in the Vale of Glamorgan and relief milking for local dairies to learn more about all things farming. Niamh enjoys all aspects of farm animal medicine has a particular interest in small ruminants and smallholding care.

Outside of work she enjoys trying out new recipes, open water swimming, and is looking forward to joining a local women’s Rugby team

Sara qualified from UTAD (Portugal) in 2014. Seeking a new adventure she joined the team in here 2017, after three years of working in a farm animal practice in Northern Portugal. Sara has a keen interest in all aspects of herd health on the dairy enterprise, particularly reproduction, mastitis and lameness. Sara likes to engage with farmers in order to help them to achieve their goals.

Outside of work Sara enjoys hiking and exploring the countryside while practicing photography.

Sarah qualified from Edinburgh University, she says too long ago, in 1988. After two years working in Gloucestershire, and a bit of time travelling and working as a locum, Sarah joined Merlin Vet Group in February 1992.

She has an interest in Bovine Fertility work and reckons the best thing about her job is the variety and seeing new things… even after 30 years in practice.
